Privacy policy

This policy explains what Bandwagon ("Bandwagon", "we") collects when you use the Bandwagon app and website, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We wrote it to be read, not skimmed past.

What we collect

• Your account: the username, display name and profile photo you choose, and the team you follow.
• What you share: posts (photos, videos and captions), comments, likes, who you follow, and messages you send in game chat rooms.
• SeatBid activity: seats you bid on, win, buy, claim, gift or list, check-ins, refunds and your swap ratings.
• Payments: handled by our payment processor, Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. During the beta, payments run in test mode and nothing is charged.
• Website forms: if you contact us on thebandwagonapp.com, your name, email, organization, team and message, kept in our database and sent to our team inbox, used only to reply to you; if you ask to be kept posted about the launch, your email and the page you signed up on, kept in our database and used only to send you news about Bandwagon. Reply or email us to be removed any time.
• Reports and blocks: what you report and who you block, so we can act on it and keep them out of your way.
• Technical basics: your device type, app version and, when the app downloads an update, your IP address, kept by our service providers to deliver the update and keep the service secure.
• How you use the app (during the beta): which screens you open and for how long, what you do there (for example posting, liking, bidding or checking in), and any errors or slow loading, linked to your account and a random ID for your phone. We use it only to find and fix problems and to make Bandwagon better. It never includes passwords, your birthday, card details or the text of your messages.

What stays on your phone

• Location: used on your phone to pick your nearest team and to tell whether you’re at the game. We don’t store your location history on our servers.
• Date of birth: asked once to confirm you’re 19 or older. Only the yes or no is kept, on your phone.
• Camera, microphone and photos: used only when you choose to take or pick something to post. We only receive what you post.
• Settings such as notifications, blocked accounts and your seat history on that phone.

How we use it

• To run Bandwagon: show your posts and chat to other fans, run SeatBid, and process payments and refunds.
• To keep it safe: review reports, enforce our community guidelines, and prevent fraud and abuse.
• To talk to you about your account, your seats and your support requests.
• To find and fix problems and improve the app, using what testers tell us, how the app is used (screens, actions and errors), and crash reports Apple shares with us through TestFlight.

We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t show you ads based on it.

Who can see what

Your username, name, photo, posts, comments, likes, followers and chat messages are visible to other Bandwagon users. Photos you post are stored at a web address anyone with the link can open, like on other social apps. Don’t post anything you want kept private.

Who we share it with

• Supabase: our database, file storage and sign-in. Our data is hosted in Canada.
• Expo: delivers app updates.
• Apple: the App Store and TestFlight.
• Netlify: hosts our website and runs its contact form.
• Google Workspace: our email, including messages sent from the website.
• Stripe: payments, once real payments start.
• Venue staff, only when you report a problem at a seat, and only what they need to sort it out.
• Authorities, if the law requires it or to protect someone’s safety.

These providers may process information outside your province or Canada. They may only use it to provide their service to us.

How long we keep it

Records of how the app is used are deleted after 90 days. We keep your account and what you share until you delete them. When you delete your account, we remove your profile, posts, photos, comments, likes, follows and chat messages. Records we must keep by law, such as payment records, are kept only as long as the law requires.

Your choices and rights

• Edit your profile at any time in the app.
• Delete your account and everything you shared: Settings → Delete account.
• Block anyone, and choose which notifications you get.
• Ask for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent: Email support@thebandwagonapp.com or by mail at 275 Dundas St, London, ON N6B 3L1.

If you’re not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Age

Bandwagon is for people 19 and older during the beta. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you believe someone under 19 is using Bandwagon, please tell us and we’ll delete the account.

Changes and contact
